I never used to like spicy food growing up. What can I say? I was a baby. Times have changed and so have my taste buds because now I can’t get enough. Eggs, soup, ice cream, bring on the spice! Kidding about the ice cream…or am I?
The best thing about these spicy chickpeas is how easy they are to make. It literally takes 5 minutes and they’re the perfect snack when you know you want to binge on popcorn and candy but are trying to be good. Anyone else feel like that 24/7?
- 1 can chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- olive oil
Heat a small pan over medium high and add some olive oil. Mix the sea salt and cayenne pepper together and set aside.
Pat the chickpeas dry and, in a small bowl, toss them in more olive oil.
Smash the garlic with the side of a knife and sauté them in the pan until fragrant.
Add in the chickpeas and cook until golden brown, stirring occasionally for even browning.
When the chickpeas are a deep golden brown, remove from heat and toss in the sea salt and cayenne mixture.
Serve hot and enjoy!
