Happy Hanukkah!

That LA Writer Menorah

Good afternoon readers, I hope you are having a good Tuesday.
Happy first day of Hanukkah to those who celebrate!

Hanukkah/ Chanukuh/ Festival of Lights

These eight days are to commemorate the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt, lead by Judah Maccabee, against the Seleucid Empire in the 2nd century BC. It was believed that there was only enough consecrated oil to last one day, but to their surprise it lasted eight days. That is why this celebration is observed for that period of time. Hanukkah is also to remember the Jewish people’s struggle for religious freedom and the survival of their religion.
