You’ll Love These Lippies

Although it may be more timely to make a post about the AMA’s, one word: J. LO, or Thanksgiving makeup: your fav. lip balm and bold falsies, I couldn’t resist posting about Birchbox’s first makeup brand!

A collaboration between Birchbox and YouTuber Glam Life Guru’s Tati, the L.O.C. (Love of Color) Collection features three lipsticks and five eyeshadow sticks.

I received the “Wildest Dreams” lipstick in my November Birchbox and, I have to say, it’s my favorite Birchbox product thus far.

Tati says the nice thing about the “Wildest Dreams” shade is that it has a blue undertone, which automatically makes your teeth look whiter. So flash those pearly whites, baby! No wonder I liked this product so much.

In addition to the color, the texture is a satiny finish that doesn’t leave lips feeling thick and cakey. I usually have a hard time applying chubby sticks, but this one went on easily and had a strong staying power.

One large complaint I’ve read in the Birchbox comments are the size of the product (.02 oz), palm-sized, for $8 each or all three for $18. I think the obvious choice here is to buy all three and save six bucks! Maybe they will release larger sizes in the future, but for now I’m satisfied with the quantity and price. Screen Shot 2015-11-24 at 9.46.32 AMimage

I haven’t tried the shadow sticks yet, but I’m loving the colors! I’m honestly kind of scared to use them because it’s been a loong time since I’ve used a shadow stick. I’m up for the challenge, though! Tati said that they are long-lasting and crease-proof, allowing for a few seconds of “play” or  application time.

What do you think of the LOC collection? And what’s your experience with eyeshadow sticks? I need advice and pep talks here, ladies!

Until next week, have a happy Thanksgiving! XO- Ashley

Meet MUA’s Desi, Lustrelux, Chrisspy and More.

We all watched Desi and Lustrelux’s Snapchats as they ventured to New York to attend the 2015 Gen Beauty event. Swooning over makeup and meet-and-greets, while we worked or sat home. It hurt even more when their beautifully edited trip recaps were posted to Youtube.

And now it’s our turn, Los Angelenos.

Gen Beauty is returning to LA on January 30th and 31st! What a way to start the new year. The earliest of the early bird tickets ($59) sold out in a flash, but the second set of early tickets ($89) are on sale now and available while supplies last until November 15th. After that the ticket price goes up to $159, yikes!

The event will feature a $200 swag bag, great networking, meet & greets and pop-up shops. Vendors are not listed yet, but past vendors include NYX, Lush, Ardell, China Glaze, Cargo Cosmetics, It Cosmetics, Smashbox and Too Faced, to name a few.

Confirmed Ipsy Stylists include: Desi Perkins, Lustrelux, Chrisspy, Michelle Phan, and Christen Dominique.
